Apopka Backflow Testing Requirements
The City of Apopka Cross-Connection Control Program publishes different requirements for residential, commercial, and reclaimed-water devices. Always confirm that the City of Apopka is the serving utility for the property; mailing address alone does not establish utility jurisdiction.
Testing schedule
- Applicable residential assemblies: every two years.
- Commercial assemblies: annually.
- Reclaimed-water dual checks: maintained on a five-year cycle and not tested like standard assemblies.
Failed assemblies
The City states that failed commercial tests require immediate remediation. Apopka’s ordinance requires a failed device to be repaired and retested, or replaced, within 14 days. Follow the due date and instructions on the current notice.
Testing and reporting
Use a properly certified tester whose current credentials are acceptable to the City. Apopka uses the Backflow BMP portal for its reporting workflow. Testing and repair do not require a plumbing permit, while installation or replacement may involve permits or licensed trade requirements.
